About a year and a half ago I noticed $160.00 was missing from my SunTrust checking account. After calling their customer service department I was basically told that I made the mistake (when I clearly didn't). When OI started to prove to the customer service rep...

SunTrust is the worst, reps are rude!

On November 23rd, I bought plane tickets for a vacation to Australia. I looked to make sure it had gone through correctly and it was only reflected as one pending transaction. On the 28th, the transaction disappeared (as happens with SunTrust, which is very shady IMO and designed to trip people up who don't balance their checkbooks religiously), but then this morning the transaction was back in my pending list, two times. So I was overdrawn by abut 1800 dollars. I immediately called SunTrust to figure out what happened. They told me I needed to talk to the vendor, and have them call back and indicate that they were only charging me one time, and they could get it taken care of. After many many long talks with various people at the vendor, I finally talked to someone who could help me. So we conference called SunTrust....and I ended up speaking to the least helpful representative on the planet. She told me that the charges had already posted (they haven't, they're pending) and that there was nothing she could do. She said it was the vendor's responsibility to issue me a refund (which can take up to 7 days to process BTW), and that SunTrust couldn't do anything. I asked her about what I was supposed to do in the meantime, like trying to pay bills and things. She says "Well, Ms Williams, even once the payment is reversed you only have 40 dollars, I'm not sure what kind of transaction you plan on doing for that amount." ...... FIrst of all, I have more money being deposited over the next few days. And second of all, my bills aren't that much (at least not the ones I'm paying this week). But none of that should matter. What kind of ridiculous response is that? Instead of explaining how you're going to help me and what I can do to avoid a bunch of nonsufficient funds fees that aren't my fault, you take a shot at how much money I have? I really try to be nice to customer service reps when I call. I truly tried my very best to be patient with everyone throughout this process. I was patient throughout the *** call-in system that doesn't understand anything I say or enter, I was patient through getting put on hold and then disconected TWICE, I was patient through the automated system telling me I don't even have an account with SunTrust. But that was too much. The second I get my money untangled from these people, I am moving on to another bank.

SunTrust in Bellevue, Washington - Sun trust and bad banking practices

Sun trust allowed Expedia to make unauthorized charges to my account, froze my accunt so that I could not use nor get any of my money and then while my account was frozen allowed Expedia to make another unauthorized charge to my account. They also charged me a $25.00 overdraft fee for their mistake. They have not responded to my e-mail complaints saying that I must call. I have no voice left to call them. Also, they made me go into the office when I exxplained that I am six and dying of cancer to show my identification. These people should be shut down for their shady practices instead of being supported by the American taxpayer.

SunTrust in Mountain View, California - Worst Bank You Can Possibly Imagine

I won't bore you with the details, but avoid at all costs. Their internet banking system works (sort of) like it was cobbled together in the early 90's. Their customer service phone tree will drive you to drink. The latest: They arbitrarily decided that I can only transfer $2,000/week out of my Suntrust account to another financial institution using online banking. And, it's $3 per transfer. These guys are going to have their head handed to them by other financial institutions.... I inherited this from CCB in simpler times... but Suntrust just can't cut it in the modern world. They don't have a clue. Really. And I'm movin' on!

On November 10 2011 Suntrust will convert their "Free Checking Accounts" to "Everyday Checking" with an $8 maintenance fee. Since that announcement was made, I decided to open a checking account with my local credit union, where I don't pay a fee. When I'm not in...

I have had the same problem, I actually went into the bank and closed my acct. By the next month the bank reopen my acct without my permission and transfer money to my other bank.

I had an automatic transfer going to a different bank.

When I spoke with someone they told me that they can reopen my account because I had money automatically being drafted to "my other acct" and they had the nerve to charge me an overdraft fee. The act like they are going to bully you into keeping an account with them.

Being harassed when I have never done business with Suntrust Bank

My 34 year old son had a truck loan over due and Suntrust was attempting to repo. Fine but I was not on the loan, never co-signed, and never had an account with Suntrust. 2 years of nasty phone calls from Suntrust collection agent. Even when ask to remove our number and name from their calling list did not stop them. Repo wrecker opened our garage door remotely, frighten my wife (64 years old), block her car from leaving the drive way. Finally wrecker company realized error that this was not my son's resident (he lives out of state) they left. I had to write the NC Banking Commission, Federal Reserve Bank, and FCC before I got a call from Suntrust Richmond office notifying me that our names had been removed from this transaction. I would never do business with this bank.

The police should have been called. The repo man should have been arrested for attempted burglary. They have a duty to only act in good faith, but they are an agent for the bank and rely on information provided by the bank, but that does not permit them to violate the law and the police should take enforcement action for trespassing, burglary, or whatever offense they committed.

Suntrust ripped me off with preditory charges

suntrust charged me today massive charges bounced items that did not need to be bounced - charged me $36 for 5 and 6 dollar charges that had cleared view web page - when I went to the centerville branch none of the managers even cared or would help - Kamm Begga (branch manager) gave me the complete brush off - when I asked for the next level up-she said there wasnt one - her assist manager Eron Norris was no better - went to 2 other branches basically begging for help - no one care nor wanted to help me - $ 400 in bounce fees for $125 in charges - crazy !! and all unnecessary - this is a shame that this bank ( which I was with for 15 year !) would treat someone so bad in a recession - when I had money a few years back they were all over me , but now that I have none they dont care one hoot. There needs to be some type of action taking against them for this. I am a single dad and live check to check yet they decided yo charge me $400 in fees for 10 $6, 7, 10 charges that again - had cleared via the web page on my acct login. how do I escalate this to national level and make America aware of these type of practices by suntrust?

Use a check register instead of the online banking. Your fault.

Bull *** NSF Fee From SunTrust

Here's yet another case of the SunTrust bank charging a BS NSF fee. I don't care if I have to pay an NSF charge if I actually overdraw my account, but this has happened twice now where I had more than enough for what I bought. I checked my statement today and saw that I had $113, and I charged $75 two days ago, and when I had $38 left I was charged the NSF fee for a $4 charge at Burger King. So maybe the SunTrust just doesn't know basic math very well because last time I checked $4 is less than $38. The first time this happened I was charged a $36 for spending $20 when my balance was $173. I called customer service and after 45min the lady could not explain why I was charged so I let it go. but $72 is just ridiculous.

Just opened a SunTrust account close to my employer in TN so I could avoid the $7 fee for cashing my paycheck. I opened the count with $100.

I wrote a check for $30, then my wife mistakenly withdrew $80. OK, no big deal. Honest mistake. I figured we would just pay the $36 fee and move on.

Somehow they charged me a $36 fee on BOTH of the above transactions! C'mon guys. There was a total of 3 transactions - a deposit a withdrawal and a check which should have resulted in a -$10 balance plus a single fee. How much simpler a model do you need to illustrate that SunTrust is flat cheating people with their fees.

They are crooks!

Stay away! Go get a credit union account.
