Badddddddddddddd Bank

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
They are blocking accounts and asking for a one time password which is never sent. Why would you put a process in place that not been tested and perfected. The fact that you just implemented it is no excuse. Get it right before you start it not after. When you call in for help there is a 30-40 MINUTE wait time. Now I remember why I moved the bulk of my funds to another bank. Bad business. How can you run a business or handle your personal affairs when you cannot access your funds. Accounts for other companies were delayed which means late charges for me. The need to jump out of the 20th century and pay professionals to bring them in to the 21st century or CLOSE UP shop!!!!!

My loan was paid in full by wire transfer when I sold my home. Now they tell me the $2,000+ in my escrow will be sent "automatically" in 15 (business) days (read 3 weeks.) Talking to a customer service supervisor - "Keisha?" - did not good. I guess they keep the money as long as the law allows "because they can." Trying to get my online business account opened so I emailed them. They claim it will be 5 business days to get it reopened. I was told I could call in. The recording says I will be helped in the next 20-25 minutes!! Who has the time to sit on hold for that long. How embarrassing. Sounds like they should take some of my fee's and open a new call center!!!! I am 15 minutes into the call and getting more and more upset with every "your call is important to us" I hear while on hold. Sounds like my call isn't important at all!! Time to find another bank

Absolutely horrific.

Not sure where to start. Rec'd a call from the fraud dept that my debit card had been compromised, I understand this happens. It was going to take 5-7 days to receive it and I was going out of town so I spent $20 to have it expressed mailed. When I went to use it I couldn't, they had changed Pin without telling me one was coming in mail so I went into bank to change it. I was told that bc I was changing it in the bank I could use the debit card anywhere BUT the bank! Are you kidding me? I actually clarified it twice bc I figured I kept hearing it wrong. I live in Va, went to NY, used it twice and then it stopped working at the worse time, when I had an Emergency and had to get a train at 1am, card kept being declined. I used my credit card. Called bank and was told that since it had fraud on it, EVERY TIME I LEFT VA I HAD TO NOTIFY THEM OF WHERE I WAS GOING. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I bank with many institutions and this has never happened! I told the guy on the phone, that could barely speak English (I'm not trying to be disrespectful but rare is this NOT the case) that I couldn't wait to get away from Suntrust. Oh, and the day I went into the bank, I got a hard pressure sale from one of the girls at the desk wanting to know if I had a mortgage, what I owed, etc, all in an open forum. Tomorrow is my day to open a new bank account ANYWHERE OTHER THAN SUNTRUST.!

I had a negative balance. Deposited total amount of the negative balance to avoid an overdraft fee. The next day I was still charged an overdraft fee. Called SUNTRUST and was given "a courtesy refund" (BS)....this restored my account....a day later, I had a positive balance and made an online transaction by that evening I had been charged another overdraft fee. I called SUNTRUST again the following morning and was told that I had items that had not cleared prior to my "courtesy refund"...which is bs because I would not have needed the "courtesy refund" if they had not wongfully given me an overdraft fee for these items when I deposited funds to correct my negative balance. I was told by a Customer Service rep manager that I need to write down all my transactions because sometimes SUNTRUST doesn't post all of your transactions online so your available balance may be inaccurate....my thought is what am I paying you for....anyway I told her you are basically telling me I can't trust you which is ironic because your bank is named "Sun - Trust". I told her that most consumers do not know that that's how you post transactions and in fact unless they calm with an issue or complaint they would not be privy to this information....her response...."that's right"....I said then your system is flawed for your customers and you guys are basically making money off of information you are not telling your consumers. She told me that my account was not eligible for another "courtesy refund"....but is it really a courtesy to me if its your mistake. You are not giving me a courtesy because its your system that is stealing from your customers. I will be closing this account and they can kiss my behind!

I was told I had overdraft protection and I find out today after my account has been charged $36.00 for an $.08 negative balance that I don't have it have been calling the branch I opened my account at 15 years ago I don't have it and they won't remove the $36.00 and if I don't deposit that money on Friday I'll be charged another $36.00 for a negative balance so I guess I'm done with Suntrust after 15 years they duck.

As I recall, the feds changed the rules re: overdraft protection a year or two ago. If you have had this since you opened the account, when the rules changed you should have been advised by the bank that you had to choose whether or not you wanted it.

I was given the option on my bank's website when I logged in to check my account. I, of course declined.

You probably didn't choose this option so you were automatically not enrolled in it due to the new rules. Easy to overlook these things given the junk the bank puts on monthly statements, etc.

SunTrust Closed account and then STOLE the money in it. $11K+

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have $11,600+ being held by Suntrust bank for nearly a month now. The funds were sent in via wire transfers and should have been made available immediately.

They closed the account on April 28, 2017 and still have not given me my funds. I called this morning and spoke to 2 different individuals, one a manager and was told that they had no intent to send the money. They said I needed to contact the financial institutions that initially sent the wires. I asked what I was supposed to say as of course I had no account information and wasn't a client of those banks.

I asked where the money was that was received, NO ANSWER. I asked if she was insinuating they had returned the funds to the originator and if that is why she was asking me to call those banks and she said she had no information regarding such. (confirmed no money returned) A suntrust Branch manager told me concretely MULTIPLE times that any funds coming in would be disbursed at the time of closing the account. She said I would have a bank certified check within 5 - 10 business days.

Any and all Liability is now on Suntrust Bank. They are CRIMINALLY STEALING MONEY.

What a JOKE !!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

After opening an account online with Suntrust bank I was directed to go to the local branch to conclude the confirmation and meet one of the team. Once arriving with punctuality being about 10-15 minutes early I started looking around at empty offices and desk everywhere.

The mgr, Rhonda Decosta that I had spoken to prior to set and postpone this meeting was very rude and started chattering before I even finished talking. I went the following day to meet w/ her and had to find another so-called banker to go and locate Miss Decosta from wherever. He started to get smart and said , "well you are 10 minutes early" and to that sarcastic remark I replied, "God forbid if a potential customer is prompt and a few minutes early". I told him that the real concern is where is your "mgr/vp" at 2:55p Friday afternoon.

Once she finally appeared, in blue jeans for Christ's sake, we went to one of the many empty offices and she began to embark on a 3 point message that was clearly from an unstable and scarred individual. I left and suggested that she seek some help and guidance asap!!

If you are thinking about an account in Augusta/Evans GA with this bank then I would highly suggest that you keep on thinking ! This is not the place to manage one dime of anyone's portfolio.

Deceit and Deception

I received funds from the total loss of my home in the form of a check made payable to me and Suntrust Bank, because I owed an equity line of $60,000. I spent two hours on Friday, March 31 trying to find out how to deposit the check, pay off the equity line and receive the remaining money into my account the quickest way possible, since I have to have the house demoed in a timely fashion in order to be in compliance with code enforcement. I left that day with the check still in my hand and no resolution, due to the fact that the man trying to help me was trying to force me to sign an affidavit that I was rebuilding the house, when I am not. The next day, Saturday, April 1st I spent another 1 ½ hours in another branch of the bank with a very helpful man, Nelson Mateo. I described to him what had happened the day before and he called someone from what I believe was a corporate office help center and received instructions on how to handle the check. My main concern was that the funds would not be held up, I stated this several times. I even went so far as to say that if the funds were going to be held up that I would have the insurance company reissue the checks in order to prevent that. Mr. Mateo was assured by a man named Vincent Vera that the process would be completed by Friday April 7th and I would have my funds directly deposited into my checking account. Again I was told to sign the affidavit that I had refused to sign before because I am not rebuilding the house. Mr. Mateo resolved this by having me write a letter about what my intentions were about the house. The bank paid off the equity line on Thursday, April 6th, along with charging me over $500 for paying it off early and a $10.00 service fee for what I am still not sure. I called Thursday and spoke to Kim Parks who said she was looking at the screen and my funds would drop in the nightly postings that night, and would be available in my account on Friday as I had originally been told. The remaining funds were not put into my account as promised, even though I had now been told by 3 people that they would be. When I called to find out what the problem was I was told that my funds had a 10 “banking day” hold on them and would not be available until April 20th! Suntrust deceived me into handing over a check for $172,400 for a loan of $60,000 by telling me over and over that I would have my money by Friday, April 7th, when apparently every one of them know that they were lying to me! All of my phone conversations were supposedly recorded so I am sure that you can pull up the records and listen to several people deceive me into depositing my check with you, instead of having the checks reissued. Being in my home when the fire started on my porch and watching it burn for 20 minutes waiting on firefighters was devastating, but my insurance company issued me a check on the 2-week anniversary of the fire. Suntrust on the other hand deceived a customer of almost 25 years and will have control of my money longer than the insurance company took to pay off on my loss – that is insane! This is a perfect example of your company deceiving someone that has been a loyal customer, that suffered a devastating loss, and that would have remained a customer indefinitely. I am appalled by the lack of concern for me as a customer, and the ease in which people in authority were able to lie to me knowingly!

Suntrust Checking Account Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have had a checking account with Suntrust for over 10+ years but the recent interactions with Suntrust have left me with bad sour taste in my mouth. Recently I had to report my bank debit card compromised even though I still had the card in hand. I realized my card was being used before whoever was able to do damage but the first person I talked to never canceled the transaction so it end up coming through as charge about 30 minutes later when the Fraud department called notify me about the transaction. I literally caught the transaction in the process because I was depositing checks into my account. So as usual they sent me a new debit card. Didn't think much of who I needed to update the information with the new card too until they would have called to say they was unable to take payment is what I thought was going to happen. But about two or three weeks after having the new card I look in my account and I have 3 charges back to back with the new card information in subject line. That when I realized that my bank just gave out my new bank card information without my permission after already dealing with the last card being fraudulent!!! Then I called customer service and their solution was to close my bank account and be issued a new one and am like they didn't have my bank information they have my debit information that Suntrust just gave out without my consent! After getting no where over the phone I visited my local branch office and was told its in the terms and conditions but they was unable to find it in the terms and conditions to back up the fact that Suntrust just gave out my new debit information after I was already having an experience with Fraud activity on my account. The customer service rep. was the worst by far because he just sat there with this blank look on his face like it was okay that my bank was giving out my debit card information without my consent. When asked if there was a way to opt out of Suntrust giving my information out without my consent was told no. There was no compassion or empathy as to what am dealing with and no resolution to the problem as well. This not how you treat your consumers if tou want to keep your doors open!!

Now you can understand why using a debit instead of, a credit card can be so dangerous.

Meggie Bjp

Please explain further. Something is missing from what you wrote.

No bank is going to give out your debit card information without your consent. All that does is set them up to lose money (You'd rightfully dispute the charges, then the bank would reimburse you, meaning they paid out the money twice.)

Still nothing from Suntrust. I guess customer service doesn't matter to them.

Original review Apr 03, 2017
I went to the drive-thru at 8 am like I always do, but it wasn't open. Another car also went to the drive-thru and parked in front of the bank.

I got out of the car and walked up to the bank to check the hours of operation which said 8 am. I called the offices to ask about the opening time and she said 8am. I signaled to the other car and told her the bank should be open. I then found out she was an employee who obviously saw me checking the hours and she said, "We open at 9, there's a sign posted.

(not sure where, but maybe on the front door would be good.) Then, rudely, "You can't wait in the parking lot, it's a security violation" I told her I wasn't waiting and she yelled, "You are waiting." I said "No, I was calling your offices and now I'm leaving." Last time I ever bank there.

They also have the most inconvenient banking hours in the area. Probably should just close.
